<BACK TO MAIN TECHNICAL MENU>

Access Tokens are used to control access to various parts of your web site. When a web page within the Token area is accessed the user will be prompted for a username and password.

Step 1: Set Up The Tokens
Create the username and passwords in your WEB SITE HOSTING Account.

Step 2: Create A Sub-Web
In FrontPage Explorer choose File, New and then, FrontPage Web.  Choose the Template or Wizard that you wish to use.  If unsure,  choose empty.

Then choose the Web Server or File Location.  This will be your local machine unless you are working directly on your web site, in which case you will need to enter your domain name or IP address.

Place all files for which you want username and password protection into this sub-web.

Step 3: Publish the Sub-Web
Choose File and then Publish FrontPage Web.

The Destination Web server or File Location is your domain name or IP address.

As the Sub-Web is not yet present on the destination web you need to untick the option Add to an existing FrontPage web.

FrontPage will advise you if the task was completed successfully.

Step 4: Set Up the Tokens
Choose File and then Open FrontPage Web.

The Web server or File Location is your domain name or IP Address.

Select List Webs. Choose the web that you just created.
