Technical Support: Add-In for Microsoft Exchange (Dial in Mode)

Before you Start!
  • Be sure your server has a Phone line and modem connected
  • Ensure that the sever is able to connect successfully to the Internet
    (This is done in the Dial Up Networking icon in My Computer)
  • You must have a domain specified NTs TCP/IP settings.
The first step is to install the  Internet Mail Service as a Connection in Microsoft Exchange. This will let Microsoft Exchange communicate with xcelNet Mail Server.

Highlight the Connections item which in in the Configuration section.

Click the File menu and select New Other then select Internet Mail Service install2.gif (9637 bytes)
   
The Wizard will start to run and the Welcome page will appear.

Click the Next button

the name of your mail server should be appearing in the List Box at the top of the screen.

Tick the option Allow Internet mail through a dial up connection.

Click the Next button

Select the phone book entry which will be used to establish a connection between this sever and the Internet.

Click the Next Button

Select Route all mail through a single host
If you connect to the Internet through xcelNet  in the Host Name enter mail.xcel.net.au
If you connect to the Internet through another Internet Service Provider you will need to set this to the Outgoing (SMTP) Server your Internet Service Provider allows you to use.

Click the Next button

Select All Internet mail address.(Typical)

 

Click the Next button

Enter an 'at' (@) symbol followed directly by your domain name. Ensure there are no spaces, and your domain name should be in lowercase.

eg: @xcelnet.com.au

Click the Next button

Select (Create/Use) the mailbox called Administrator

 

Click the Next button

Enter the password for the Windows NT username/account under which this Internet Mail Server will run. install11.GIF (10250 bytes)

The Internet Mail Service should now appear in window when the Connections icon is selected. install14.GIF (8917 bytes)
   
Double Click the Internet Mail Service configure1.GIF (8824 bytes)
   
The Properties Window will appear
Click the Dial Up Connections Tab

You can change the Connection Schedule for Exchange Server dial-up to suit your needs.

Click the Mail Retrieval Button to tell exchange how email should be retrieved from xcelNet

Click the Logon Information button to tell Exchange which username and password to use to connect to the Internet

This is the username and password which is required for you to connect to you local ISP. This information is provide by your Internet Service Provider.
Domain is usually left blank.

Select Custom Command and type
c:\xcelNet\plugin.exe <mailbox@bne00?m.server-mail.com>   <yourmbpassword>
or use the path that has the xcelNet plugin.exe

A working example is:

c:\xcelnet\plugin.exe mb42477a@bne005m.server-mail.com 1234zyxw

Click the  OK button

then

Click the  OK button again to close the Internet Mail Properties sheet.

A note on the password:

The password that you first set this to on you first connection, will be the permanent password that will be set at the xcelNet mail server to be your smtp store password.  This password can not be changed in your Website Account.  If you have trouble with this password or required it to be changed you will need to contact xcelNet Technical Support on
